Personal Philosophy

Raised in New York City, I thrive on ethnic and cultural diversity.  It is for similar  reasons that I enjoy travel.  Openness to individual and ethnic differences, varied religious and philosophical viewpoints, and even alternate technological directions challenge one’s homegrown perspective and deepen understanding of the positive potential of being human.

Patient Face #1
Patient Face #2
Irritable & depressed

“After 13 years of Emergency Department work, I came to realize that many patients were presenting with medical issues which, to various degrees, resulted from concurrent psychiatric issues recognizable as maladaptive lifestyles, often non-compliant with medications or a sensible diets, frequently with chronic pain.  I came to believe that if I could positively influence a patient to rethink their ways of coping with stress, it might have a more profound and enduring impact on their health and well-being than simply prescribing a pill or setting a cast.”
